Tom's Bike is coming along!

I'm looking forward to see how it is now Tom got any more recent photos. I am sorry I took so long to post these!

Here is a photo just after Tom fired bike up. He sent me the photo 2/11/03. (Great job Tom)- Tom's Comments:

"Fired it up this weekend for the first time.  Sounds great!  Still have some litlle chickensh*t stuff to take care of (front fender mount, headlight bulb, gauges) and then I can take it for an inspection and registration!"

See below photo for more---

"I rode the Commando yesterday for the first time!  It feels good, the motor runs smooth and strong, it turns, stops and shifts real nice, no leaks and nothing fell off!

Still have to set the timing with a strobe (it's got a Boyer and so far I've just set it by eye per their installation instructions) and make a couple of fast passes so I can read the plugs.  Jetting is what came in the Mikuni kit, I checked it against the INOA recommendations and it matches their rec's for an 850 with stock exhausts.  Since this motor has the 2-in-1 and a slightly hotter set of cams, I may need to richen it up just a touch.

I had to ditch the clip-ons, though, they were way too low for comfort.

After I put enough miles on to shake the bugs out, I'll put a decent paint job on it.  Right now it's Krylon black--I'll probably leave it black but use a base/clear system so I can put some Norton logos on the tank"

Here (below) is a photo of Tom's son, with comments:

"Here's an update on the update-the bike has the touring bars and gauges installed, and that's my son, after his first ride on a "wrong-foot, wrong-way" shifter, learning to appreciate British iron.  His smile pretty much tells the tale!

Keep up the good work!

p.s.--I'm sure this is old news to you and lots of the other Norton enthusiasts, but the service I've gotten from Ella Eaton at Old Britts has been nothing short of fantastic.  I'm expecting her to start shipping me stuff that arrives before I even know I need it!"
