I have a 1973 commando 850 and I need tires. Could you send me in the right direction ? I am looking for performance and I am using the original wheels any help would be greatlly apreciated.
Awesome looking Norton Jerry. Keep at it and enjoy
Enjoyed it, nice polish on the 850. I've got a Mk 3 (75) Cheers
Just wanted to say that you have a great site and the bikes are sweet!!!
Just getting back into Nortons after a long hiatus. Your bike is quite the inspiration of what can be. Thanks amigo.
Jerry: Thanks for a great site ....I found the VR 880 that I had been lusting after though your for sale page. And now it's mine !!!!!
Just found your webb site .Had agreat time checking it out , nice job . I have a nice 1975 850cc Norton Commando . I am going to put it in my favorites so I can show some friends . Thanks for the good entertainment. Long Live The Queen
Nice site. In regards to strobe timing the Boyer. Try setting advance to 25 deg. with engine @ 3000 rpm . Then do quick reference at +5000 rpm to confirm. Saves wrestling with a bike trying to back itself out the garage on it's centerstand etc. (this is for type mk3 boyer, not sure if true for digital)
Great Website. Very inspiring - especially when I have just pulled the topend apart on my very rough 850 and discovered a bore with some horrible (expensive) marks the like I have never seen before on a cylinder bore !!! After viewing the website I have decided to stick with the commando (I was going to scrap/sell it). Thanks
WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THE NAKED CHICK ON THE BLACK ROADSTER IN YOU'RE ADS SECTION? SURE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A COPY FOR MY COLLECTION. CAN YOU POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION? THANKS EDWARD.KERNS@OHCOLU.ANG.AF.MIL

Greetings from Dover, Mass., USA! Love your black 850. Have one myself. That Corbin seat makes it! Just took a little ride tonight. It's 42 degrees F here. Nice for this time of year. My front brake master cylinder needs a rebuild so it's all mush, and my headlight is about as bright as a candle, but damn that thing is fun! Keep up the good work! Mark

NICE WORK dude, someday i'll own a NORTON COMMANDER too
Well I was pleasently suprised by your page. I own two Nortons a 1970 Commando "S" model with Dunstall pipes, and a 1965 P11 (which needs restoration) I'm looking to sell the P11. I love to ride my "S" it's a very different ride from my other bikes (76 Triumph 750, Bmw's).
Nice site, Jerry...Thanks! I have a blue '73 850 Commando Roadster I've owned since new.
viva classicbike !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Site!! I am the ower of a 72 750 Commando and I love it. I have found excellent luck with the Boyer, Dyna Coil, and Tymp. Unit as well. That Corbin seat has been on my list for a while now, I think I better do something about it! Well....that and an 18" borrani rear wheel. Keep up the good work! I'll forward some pics.
Hi from Michigans Upper Penninsula, aka: the U.P. Love your site, I put it immediately in my favorites. I will be back to try and see the whole thing. Its nice to see other folks riding Nortons. I'm pretty sure I am the only one riding a Norton in all of the U.P. I ride a '73 850 hi-rider, not quite "showroom" - but not bad. I have only seen two others during the past dozen or so years, both were parked.
Great site .Your mk.2 1973 850 makes mine look a bit tatty .Maybe one day mine will look as good. English weather has a lot to answer for!
Note new e'mail address (temporarily): dean.stoneburner@enterpriseassets.com Bike looks great!
Great site, sharp bikes!
I was happy when I found this site couple of days ago. I think it is great place for Norton lovers to rest their eyes...
Seeing that Roadster was better than Viagra. I grew up in a small town, but we had a dealer who sold Norton,BSA and Rickman. My first street bike was a G50 that my buddy and I found in an old hotel basement. We worked on it for two years until we were old enough to ride it. He still has it and has even raced it a few times. I am looking for a Combat Commando as a middle age project. My wife found out how fast my R1 is and I agreed to sell it and do a restoration. Great site!!!
I've been a Commando an and owner for 30 years and live in Tokyo, Japan. I have two Commandos: A 1974 Mk2A, which I have owned from new, and a Comando Racer which I race in classic events here. It's known as the "Burton Special. Great site. Happy to meet any Norton fans who come to Tokyo. burton@fp.catv.ne.jp
burton, i think i have veiwed a picture of your "burton racer" at british marketing in south orange county, southern california. what a fine example of nortonville! best regards, g.z. (bad dog !)
Well thanx for the tour, I used to own a 1969 750cc Fastback which I loved and wish I still had but thats another story (riding a Triumph now!) great site thankyou.
I am in process of putting a 74 850 Commando to original condition. Will forward Photos when complete. Hal Workman - Glendora, CA A great webb site. I enjoyed! Hal
Hi I just purchased an 850 Commando with quite qracing history , hill climber, flat tracker and ice raced with a sidecar .Your site will be a big help in getting it running again
Just read about your site in the April Edition of Classic Bike. I had to check it out and it's great. Your 850 looks hot. I like the look with the Corbin seat. By the way I'm the guy with the Yellow 850 on page 2 of your photo's from BM ride in December. See you on the May 12th ride.
Thanks Rock, Look forward to seeing you there also!
Nice WWW site. At one time I had an 850 Commando. Wish I still had it.
I am in the library testing my skills! hope you are well. Hope all goes well with Catherine's new baby. GINA.
Nice site!!!
Very nice site and great looking Norton. Always liked blowing them off with my highly modified BSA Hornet back in the 60s when I could keep it running. There were a few times though when it was close. Blew it up when I missed 3rd @ about 7000 rs. Oh Well. Havn't ridden since 68. Too dangerous here in the states.
Nice website. Tanks for the clear exploination fitting end timing instruction Boyer ignition. Jaap Addicks, Netherlands
I m from GREECE Athens,31 years old,DUCATI monster 620 red, still cafe racer.Nice site english people bo well and keep on classic bikes!!!
TO ALL MKIII ROADSTERS OWNERS PUT YOUR ELECTRIC STARTERS IN THE GARBAGE CAN AND KICK THE SON OF A BITCH OVER ,LIKE A MAN.
WHEN BALANCING TWIN AMALS NEVER REMOVE THE H.T. LEADS.REMOVE THE L.T. LEAD FROM COIL AND STUFF A PIECE OF RAG UP THE FLOAT BOWL DRAIN PLUG,THIS PREVENTS FUEL FROM WASHING AWAY OIL FROM YOUR CYLINDER BORES THUS PREVENTING SERIOUS ENGINE DAMAGE.......NICE SITE .SE YA.
great site. forgot just how beautiful the norton is. you reminded me. now i have a rekindled urge to go find one. i'll let you explain it to my wife.
I was a '69 Triumph Bonaville 650 owner for years. I new everything about that bike because I had to fix it. But, I took it on the hiway as well as in the dirt. It's low center of gravity made it!!
You've given me hope!!!! Mine is still in pieces slowly being put back together. I also have a Corbin seat (In Carbon Fibre weave!!) to fit up, but have gone to 34 mm Amal's because of the 940 cc bore kit....... Keep up the good work!!!! Great Site!
hei... your web is so nice,..... salute....brother
what's happened! i see nothing in the guest book. did you all just vanish ?
No still here!
Most Excellent website! You have some nice bikes. I've got a 71 Norton Fastback. I'll try to email you a photo. It is classic 70's bike with Blue metallic paint! Thanks for keeping it all alive! Scott
Nice site, wish it had more peectures, good technical info, especially on Boyer ignitions. Thank Kew Veddy Much!
Great site. Good information. I've picked up a running '75 850 Roadster been going through replacing pieces/parts here and there.
I have a '71,but just a bit ago I picked up a Chopped 70, I rode it once, just to see if it went through the gears. It was a very scary thing, with that wheel way out there, soft shocks on the back and worn isolastics, the three big parts of that bike all wanted to go in all directions at once. I took it apart and brought it home in the trunk of my car. Slowly it will become a Cafe, and garage mate to the '71....Best rides to all, enjoy your bikes as much as I enjoy mine..jg
. Those of you who are interested in the smallest of detail, (I can't spell minutia) can go to an interesting site...www.uspto.gov...There if you type in the Patent Number for the isolastics #3542146, you can see the entire rubber mounts in all their very glorious detail . .And a very nice schematic drawing of a Commando. . .
Great site sexy Norton,Im gonna breathe some new life into my MkII after this Brenton Port Lincoln Sth Aust.
Just browsed in as an ex mkIIA owner but now ride the new hinkley bonnie, and was just thinking there are so many biker sites on the web that are rubbish, and came across this exellent offering. A very well designed and nice website reflecting a very well designed and nice motorcycle ( apart from the bloody clutch slip which plagued me for months on end ) A great site and great bike Vlad

Hello from Brisbane Australia. What a great site. I have a 73 Roadster (black of course), a 2002 Moto Guzzi V11 Scura and a 67 BSA Spitfire and guess which gets ridden the most? Are there any other owners in Brisbane (or anywhere else) interested in a Norton ride? Contact is: "the mays@iprimus.com.au" Hmm think I might go for a ride now, winter here and 20degrees celsius!!
Jerry, Awesome site and a very helpful resource. I am using photos of your bikes to help me with the 74 850 I've just found. Thanks.
Excellent site. You have great links also. I've followed some of the links before but you have the best ones plus a few that I hadn't seen before. Oh,, and you have some good looking Nortons also. Scott
Greetings from Norway. Superb site you have developed, i enjoyed it very much. Lots of nice bike's. I hvae a Norton Commando Roadster 1972 (combat). I've changed the main bearings from ball to cylinder type, just incase ! You can see some pictures of the bike at http://www.geocities.com/bajohansen2000/jpg_pics/norton/start.html . As you can see on one of the pictures it's modified a returnline at the top of the casing, this is done to eliminate any problems with o-ring failure. If bike's been parked for a longer period of time the casing fills up with oil. The result is that when you start the engine the o-ring fails, and oil comes into the electronic pickup for ignition. -> No Spark Any way, keep going strong. BAJ
an excellent bike, an alltime classic, what happened to my youth -easy i spent it riding on a norton commando covering over 100,000 miles in 10 years, ho if i was able to do it al again I Would!

Hi Jerry, Just showing the wife all your magnificent bike pics, she was very impressed! and wants to know if she can have one? Actually you'll probably have more chance with a moped! hi there, great site, i was wandering, a while ago i've seen a picture in a motorcycle magazine of a new NORTON. it was a VR 880 COMMANDO, i also read that is being produced only for the us market. Do you have any information of this bike?, is it already for sale over there?, how about its performances? price? etc. its just that i've never heard of the bike since this litlle article, a little strange because its the nicest bike that ive seen produced lately, well greetings from a commando fan from the netherlands

Hi Doe I tried to email you to wish you a Happy New Year but I got a blank and a curious note about spamming. I guess either you got the wrong end of the stick somewhere along the line, when I put out my email about spam to all my contacts it was because I use this email address for work and was getting 10 times as much chain letters, cartoons and funny pictures as work, still I hope all is well in Doeland and one day you may wish to communicate with this old git again Skin up
What is your email- I lost it?
Hi Jerry Great site I have ridden Commandos for many years and still class them as my all time favourite bike ..they are hard to get and expensive here in Australia ....watch the 1975 Australian movie "STONE" It has a lovely candy apple 850 comando starring in it ......ride on ......ciao
Jerry ...type in "Sandy Harbutt" in a search engine eg:yahoo and you can get the vhs or dvd of the movie "STONE".....see stone the cop racing his 850 norton against a kawa 900 ...see the Norton pull wheelies like never seen before.wel worth getting the movie............
Hi Jerry , I´m a proud owner of MK2 850 Commando Roadster, 1.973, since 1.985, and I like so much your web site , "NORTON IS STILL UNAPPROACHABLE". "PACIENCIA Y UNA BUENA NORTON" De un entusiasta español.
Nice site. Had a great time looking around. Absolutely loved the "going through the gears." Nothing sounds so sweet. Now that I've finished spending all my money on drum gear I'm inspired to go back to work on my '73 850 project. Thanks & have a good '03.
One whiz on a bike or a computer. best of luck.
Don't forget that Norton Sid Vicious ride in California or I will have to have you all Gaylorded like my young Laocean boy partner here.
Great site. I have a 72 Hi Rider that is sitting on my patio waiting for me to restore it to life. Maybe someday------
CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR NICE SITE AND BEAUTIFUL BIKE. I AM FROM PORTUGAL AND I HAVE A 850 MK III (E.S.) IN RESTAURATION. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
jerry, good to ride with you today. your roadster is running quite nicely. i trust you can use the fastback photos i gave you today. let me know when you can go out on another blat soon ! cheers !!
Great website! The pictures are always a feast for the eyes and the technical information is a bonus.
Don't worry Jerry, like Austin Powers your Norton will 'shag' those Harleys into oblivion. Why doesn't Austin drive a Norton? (Come on Mike Meyers, time to put a JPN Commando in the next movie!) Oh behave! Cheers!
